Week 5

Hi everyone,
Happy 4th of July! I hope you all have fun plans for the day, and hopefully they involve ways of staying cool, with plenty of swimming and cold drinks and ice cream. It was a hot week at the farm and the ground has now finally dried out, and things are actually looking a little thirsty! But Claude got some drip irrigation set up on a few of the crops that didn't already have it, and at least the peppers and broccoli got a drink. Things are growing well, and it's exciting to see everything progress. The peas are finally in, and the squash is just starting, so we've got some solid produce for you this week. This will probably be the end of the spinach for a while (it really doesn't like hot weather) but we'll keep going with your weekly bag of salad greens and other greens will rotate in and out as they are ready.

In Your Bag:
Salad Mix
Spinach
Beet Greens

Here are some recipe ideas to try:
1) Stir Fry Pork with Snow Peas in Citrus-Soy Sauce
This is a Wegmans recipe, so it comes with instructions to buy very specific Wegmans' brand items, but I find it a good jumping-off point for making your own version of this.
I'm including a link to this "recipe" from Ina Garten, though here it is in so many words: saute peas in a skillet with some olive oil, sprinkle with sea salt and pepper, serve. No knocks on Ina Garten, of course. I'm all about simple recipes!
3) Spinach and Summer Squash Frittata
Frittata is essentially scrambled eggs with loads of extras, and it makes a great breakfast, but also a filling and tasty summer supper. Scroll all the way down to the bottom of the linked page for the actual recipe.
Have a great weekend!
All the best,
