Week 7

Hi everyone,
Well, the rain finally came! It took it's sweet time, but we've had some lovely gentle showers, and it looks like there are more on the way. Everything is appreciating the drink. The summer vegetables keep rolling in, and the eggplant and tomatoes are just about ready. Sue and Claude got a bunch more things planted over the weekend, so we should be in good shape going into the fall. I have learned that farming really requires thinking ahead; sometimes a few days ahead to plan jobs around the weather, a few weeks ahead to figure out when to harvest what, a few months ahead to make sure things are planted early enough so that they can mature before the cold weather comes back and even a few years ahead, by rotating the crops over the land so that they will do their best. It's a lot to keep in one's mind! Luckily, Sue and Claude have over 25 years of experience, so you're in good hands.

There is a nice variety of summer veggies in your bags this week, and more on the way.
In Your Bag:
Salad Mix
Arugula
Green & Yellow Beans
Garlic
Young Red Onions
Summer Squash (assorted varieties of green and yellow zucchini and yellow squashes)
Cherry Tomatoes (just a few to wet your whistle)

Some nice groceries to work with this week! Here are some ideas:
My mouth is watering at the thought. I've also heard of making it with watermelon, which also sounds quite refreshing.
2) Potato, Onion, Arugula and Brie Pizza
A CSA member shared this. Sounds delicious!
Another variation on my quick summer meals.
4) Chocolate Zucchini Snack Cake
Another quick bake, but it's very tasty and great for summer snacks or dessert.
Have a great week!
All the best,
