Week 18

Hi everyone,
It's the final week of the 2018 CSA! Thank you all so very much for supporting Lucky Moon Farm, and keeping some long-time local farmers doing what they love. It's been another season of ups and downs, as is always the case when farming, but I'm continually reminded how important it is to do the challenging work of growing food. It maintains a connection with the land, with the weather, with the seasons and with the natural world. I am grateful every day that I get to spend outside digging in the dirt, pulling weeds and sowing seeds. So thanks for supporting local farms! We hope you've enjoyed your vegetables and we look forward to another year of growing food for our community.

We loaded up your bags with goodies to last you for a while, but whenever you start running low, remember to stop by the Lucky Moon farm stand, open Friday - Sunday, 9 AM to 6 PM. Also, Sue and Claude will be at the Nelson and the Cazenovia winter markets. Nelson (at the Spruce Ridge Greenhouse) starts on the 1st Saturday in November, and Cazenovia (at the Legion Hall) will be on the 3rd Saturday of November. Make sure you stock some of your holiday tables with food from local farms! There are some excellent squash, potatoes, onions, garlic and greens to be had around here, even through the winter!

In Your Bag:
Salad Mix
Spinach
Red Cabbage
Mixed Onions
Garlic
Buttercup Squash
Acorn Squash
Carrots
Celeriac
Sweet Peppers
Parsley
Tomatoes
French Fingerling Potatoes
Eggplant or Arugula, depending on what you got last week

Heavy bags! The onions, garlic, squash and potatoes will all store at room temperature (though the potatoes should be kept out of the light).
1) Buttercup Squash with Apples
A lovely fall dish!
2) Autumn Salad
I've got a theme- This is a great way to use that red cabbage, for a seasonal take on a slaw .
A simple way to prepare these sweet little beauties-
Have a great fall and winter, everyone. We hope to see you back with us next year. Stay healthy and happy!
All the best,
Sarah VanNorstrand
